The elaborate scoring system is well worth mastering and will give you a deep appreciation for the artfully crafted enemy waves on every screen of the game, but even as a casual experience without that sort of pretension, it's a wholly playable and beatable game and an overall engrossing, bombastic ride backed by a fantastic soundtrack. While few people may seriously play Space Invaders compared to some of its other retro contemporaries, as a new take on an old formula, it holds its own against the likes of Pac-Man Championship Edition and Championship Edition DX as one of the best clasically-styled arcade experiences you can play today. Don't sleep on one of Taito's best games of the last few decades!. Pros:- New play style from the original Space Invaders I love.- Challenging from different levels of different difficulties.- Vibrant colors and smooth playing.- A little of a learning curve but easy to learn.- Different weapon styles to create a high score for the online leader boards.Cons:-Online only play!-No way to improve graphics to what it is locked at.-If you are photo sensitive or epileptic this game could trigger you.-Sound is always way too loud with only five adjustment settings that really does not make much difference in volume.-Only locked into their style of game mode. It would be nice if you can unlock or have the option to play the original space invaders with the graphics they have in this game.I enjoy this game. I have not tried using my arcade fight stick with it to get a real arcade feel to this game but I would recomend it for a time killer.I would give this game a 7/10 because of lack of volume adjustments and graphic adjustments.. This game has some weird FPS issues, like it wants to run at 61fps - it's not smooth!. Also reading the game reviews on Steam there is other bugs too. I mean, c'mon man its 2018 surely we can have a glitch free version of Space Invaders! No proper vsyncing and no resolution scaling = REFUND.. Taito Station core with a heavy dose of ＦＥＶＥＲ.. I loved the original Space Invaders Extreme when it released on the DS. This version does improve the sound and graphics but they changed some of how it plays and also made changes to some of the levels. Still, this is a very fun game. If you have not played it before, I really suggest that you give it a shot. The combination of the gameplay and the integrated music is addicting. A geat innovation on the old classic Space Invaders game play. It is one of the best games Taito released last decade. The only issue that I really have is that it is now always online, unlike the original portable game. Why? It also does not have the multiplayer mode. Seems weird to add an online requirement but then remove multiplayer. Note: I got the game on sale, not at full price.. Very good port from the PSP, and other related systems this game was on in the previous gen, but would be perfect if it could be played offline. Think twice before buying if you do not like online-only video-games.. The gameplay is fine but $20 for a remastered game with less features than previous iterations (no online multiplayer, no key rebinding, no V-Sync, no multiple resolution) is not something I've recommend.Lack of playerbase is not a good incentive to compete in leaderboards, this game was somehow unnoticed by big STG communities...Also I'm having some weird FPS drop problem (GTX 1070) wich is very annoying. Posted this issue on Steam forums and got my post moved away for it to be unnoticed. Not that I care much about mods, but it felt very rude.I will ask for a refund and might rebuy later at better price.
